One of seven
buildings of similar architecture for Ipswich City
council. The site was an urban park adjacent to the
Brisbane River and was within the 1 in 40 year flood
level. No sewer services were available for the site.
The Ipswich region has a poor type of soil
requiring a pad of controlled fill to be placed beneath
the under-structure of the building and the floor slabs
are engineering certified with a Form 15.
A Pureablue two-disabled-access-complaint-booth
building, was mounted on a 10 000L CWT collection well
with additional support columns.
A Pureablue Anti-Surcharge-System was fitted to this
building - a unique solution to prevent solid waste and
toilet paper from back-flowing from the collection well
out of the pedestal in the event of flooding. Ahead of a
flood warning a council officer locks the booths and
rotates an externally mounted bar 90 degrees into a
closed position that blocks off the pedestal openings.
The bar can be locked in both the open and closed
position and all hardware is located under the building
with no access by vandals.
